Scholarship Presentation
Dale Horowski presentedJack Jubarwith the third installment of his 4-year scholarship from the Rotary Club of Ludington. Jack graduated from Ludington High School in June of 2024 and is starting his junior year at Notre Dame University. His studies include math, theology, and theater. This summer, Jack was a Missionary at Damascus Summer Camp in Ohio. He is leaving soon for four months in Athens, Greece to study art, philosophy and theater.
Miss Ludington Area 2026
Ashley McPike was crowned Miss Ludington Area 2026 on Sunday, December 21, 2026. A junior at the University of Michigan, Ashley is studying Electrical Engineering and is active with club Volleyball. She is a 2024 graduate of Ludington High School and Past President of the Ludington HS Interact Club.
The Miss Ludington Area Scholarship Program is held annually in December for women who live, work, or go to school in Mason, Manistee, Oceana, or Lake Counties between the ages of 18-28. Miss Ludington Area goes on to compete in Miss Michigan, and if successful, to Miss America.
This is a scholarship and service-based title. Miss Ludington Area is chosen based upon performance in five phases of competition: Private Interview, On Stage Question, Fitness, Talent, and Evening Gown. Ashley's Community Service Initiative: Sparking their Futures: Involving Youth in Engineering. Ashley's talent: performing the drum part to Mr. Brighside. (Dale confirms this is a challenging part.) Her crowning awarded her $2,700 from three scholarships. Ashley competed in the Miss Michigan competition in June 2026 with 30 contestants, and while she didn't place, she had an amazing experience. What surprised Ashley most about being crowned? Given her attention to academics, robotics and athletics, she didn't think she was pageant material!
Our last day for collecting items for COVE is at our meeting on August 27.

The Rotary Club of Ludington plays an important role in supporting local organizations that advance the public good, foster innovation, and address community needs. This Request for Proposal (RFP) aims to solicit applications from eligible entities seeking funding for sustainable projects and programs. Eligible entities do not include individuals, families or for-profit organizations. We prioritize projects that provide benefits beyond the year in which the grant is awarded, that demonstrate measurable outcomes, support one or more of our Areas of Focus, involve active participation by Rotary members, or are sponsored by a member of Rotary. We will not consider projects for the operating, administrative, or indirect program expenses of another organization. Contact Bob Vipond for information. Deadline: 8/28/26.

Annual Rotary Picnic Potluck!
We will be meeting at Rotary Park on Thursday, September 3rdfrom 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a time to bring your spouse, significant other, family or friends and enjoy great food, fun games, and wonderful camaraderie with fellow Rotarians.
Please remember to bring a dish to pass and your table setting. Pop/water/beer and wine will be provided.
